My cat walked across a freshly cut lacquer disc and now I have a meow hidden in track 2

I was cutting a test pressing in my garage last Saturday and my cat jumped on the cutting lathe at the worst second. Has anyone else had an animal ruin a master and how do you keep them out of your workspace?

Four hundred bucks to fix a lacquer and you're really blaming the cat?

Hold up, four hundred bucks for lacquer sounds steep, but cats knock stuff over. That's what they do. I've watched mine yeet a coffee mug off the counter just for fun. Unless the cat was literally chewing on the instrument, I'm not sure the price tag changes who did the damage. Seems like a lot of money to spend on a finish anyway. Is the wood even worth it? Maybe just play the thing and let it get some character.
