Best week I ever had on the job, then the worst Monday after

Last spring I was on this big new build outside Austin, and for five straight days every sheet I cut fit perfect first try. No redos, no trimming, the studs were dead straight. But then the next Monday rolled around and I hit a pipe with a screw that wasn't supposed to be there, flooded the whole utility room. Got any stories about a crazy good streak followed by a total disaster?

Used to roll my eyes when older guys said things like this, but now I get it. Last month I had three perfect days in a row on a ceiling grid, everything level and square. Next day my laser level dropped off a ladder and shattered, then I cut into a live wire that should have been dead. Made me a believer in that good luck bad luck cycle real quick.

Aw man, I don't know. Sounds like a bad Monday, sure, but a flooded utility room isn't exactly the end of the world. People love to make a big deal out of a bad day like it's some sort of curse or cosmic joke. You hit a pipe, you fix the pipe, you pull a little overtime and move on. It's construction. Stuff happens. Sometimes you're on fire, sometimes you're on fire, you know, literally.
