Client told me my butt joints looked like garbage so I changed my taper

Had a homeowner point out visible lines on every seam in their hallway last month, said it looked like a patch job. Switched over to a 12 inch knife for my final coat and started feathering way wider, those joints disappeared like magic. Anyone else get humbled by a client's criticism?

@hall.emm a says 12 inch is standard but honestly not as common as you'd think for final coats. I see guys dragging 6 inch knives on butt joints all the time. My taper was about 4 inches wide before, now I'm going 8-10 inches with the 12 and those lines vanish. The homeowner was right, I needed to stop being lazy with my feathering.

Isn't a 12 inch knife what most pros already use for finishing?
