My first time mudding a ceiling corner was a comedy of errors
Back in 2019, I tried taping a vaulted ceiling joint with a 6 inch knife and a bucket of mud balanced on a wobbly ladder. I ended up with more compound on my head than on the seam, and my buddy still calls me 'Spacklehead' because of it. What's the dumbest way you've ever tried to do a simple task before learning the right tool?

Spacklehead" is a solid nickname, I feel that. My version was trying to cut a straight line with a dull box cutter and a warped yardstick. I was making a Halloween prop and wanted clean foam board edges. Ended up with this jagged, chewed-up mess that looked like a beaver went to town on it. Took me three ruined boards to finally google "utility knife and metal straight edge." The right tools are a game changer, but you gotta earn the wisdom first.

My 2007 attempt at grout involved a plastic bag with a corner cut off. I looked like a confused pastry chef trying to ice a concrete cake. Sometimes you just have to fail your way to the hardware store.
