My brother-in-law talked me out of a $4,000 timeshare pitch in Branson, and I owe him dinner
I sat through one of those 90 minute sales pitches in Branson last month because they promised a free weekend stay, and I was about ready to sign the paperwork for a $4,000 resale unit. My brother-in-law Dave pulled me aside and asked one question: what happens if you want out? Turns out the resale market on those things is basically dead, people list them for a dollar and still can't give them away. If Dave had kept his mouth shut I'd be paying maintenance fees every year for a place I might visit twice.
