My uncle's gold coin advice cost me $800 at a flea market in Fresno
My uncle swears by buying gold coins at flea markets. Said it's the only way to get a deal because dealers in shops just rip you off. Found a booth with a guy selling old coins, looked super legit, had a magnifying glass and everything. Bought a "rare 1921 Morgan dollar" for $250, then another one for $300 because he gave me a "two coin discount". Got home, looked it up online, turns out they're common as dirt and worth maybe $50 each. My uncle saw them and just shrugged, said "well, you learn by losing". The guy at the coin shop confirmed they were real silver but not rare at all. Has anyone else had that one relative whose money advice you should've ignored from the start?
