Tried to make a 'one pot' pasta and ended up with soup

I saw a recipe online that said to put dry spaghetti, a jar of sauce, and water in a pot for 15 minutes... it looked so easy. I used a full 16 oz box of Barilla and followed the directions exactly. What I pulled off the stove was basically a giant pot of tomato noodle soup, not a dinner. I learned you can't trust every 'hack' you see... Has anyone else had a one pot recipe actually work out?

Read a food science article that explained those recipes need the exact right pasta to water ratio. They said to use just enough liquid to cover the pasta by half an inch, not a whole jar of water. Your box was way too big for the method.

Been there! Those recipes are so hit or miss. I stick to the box instructions now, way less stress.
