Can we talk about that weird gap I found behind my baseboards after pulling them off
Ripped off the old baseboards in my 1950s bungalow last weekend and found a 2-inch gap behind every single one where the drywall ended way above the subfloor, so now I'm wondering if this is a common Edmonton builder thing or just my house being special, has anyone else dealt with that much dead space back there?

Yeah just throw some spray foam in there before you put the new baseboards on, itll stop drafts and keep bugs out. I had the same thing in my 50s house and it worked like a charm lol.

I know exactly what you mean about the 50s house thing, those old gaps are brutal for drafts. Sorry you had to deal with that too, it's such a pain finding all the little spots they sneak through. Glad the foam trick worked out for you though, that gives me some hope for mine.
