Dealing with a popped pipe in my basement last month

Was doing a simple drywall patch in the laundry room. Hit a water line with my screw. Not even deep, just one wrong spot. Water spraying everywhere at 6 PM on a Friday. Had to run to Home Depot in Mill Woods for a sharkbite cap. $12 fix but ruined my drywall and my whole weekend.

And you know what, I used to think sharkbite fittings were just a lazy man's fix. Like real plumbers should sweat copper or use proper crimp rings. Then this exact thing happened to me last year, except it was 11 PM and I had no choice. Grabbed a sharkbite cap from my neighbor's garage and it held perfectly until I could fix it proper the next day. Completely changed my mind about those things. Now I keep a couple in my toolbox just in case.
