Swapped my impact driver for an old-school brace and bit, weirdly better for panel work
Honestly, I spent years using a cordless impact for everything, even tightening terminals in a 400 amp panel outside of Billings. Then I borrowed a vintage brace and bit from an old timer on a service call last Friday, just for a stubborn lug that was rounded out. The slow, steady torque let me feel the threads seat perfectly instead of just zipping it down and hoping. I was sure it would be slower, but I finished that termination in half the time because I didn't have to retighten a single one. The impact was fine for framing, but for precise work in a live panel, the manual control is just better. Now I keep a brace in my van for anything with brass or aluminum. Has anyone else gone back to a hand tool for a specific task and found it beats the power version?

Ain't it funny how a hand tool just feels the threads better? I ditched my impact for terminals too.

Yeah but see, impacts are fine for speed once you know a torque spec by heart. Hand tools just give you that extra control when things are tight or rusty. Different jobs call for different tools, that's all.
