Update: I swapped from using my old adjustable wrench to a proper 10-inch Knipex pliers wrench for a stubborn conduit fitting in a Reno job last month.

The Knipex gripped perfectly without rounding the nut, saving me 20 minutes of cussing and a potential trip back to the truck for a different tool, so what's your go-to tool that just works better than the 'close enough' option?

Yeah I picked up a Knipex pliers wrench last year after fighting with some seized galvanized pipe fittings and honestly it was night and day. The parallel jaws just grab without that sketchy slipping feeling you get with standard channel locks. Definitely earned its spot in my daily bag.

Totally get that! I read a forum thread where guys swore by the pliers wrench for electrical work. It just seems to grip flat surfaces without chewing them up. Makes the job so much smoother.

Yeah, those forum guys are onto something. Christopher_ross is right about the smooth grip. I've rounded off too many nuts with regular channel locks on conduit fittings. The parallel jaws on a pliers wrench just bite flat and hold. It really is a game changer for not messing up the finish on new panels or connectors. You get a solid hold without that crushing force that distorts everything. Ever try one on a stubborn grounding bushing?
