The neighbor who made me quit my password manager habit
I ran my whole life through one password app for about 4 years, felt invincible. Then my neighbor, who does IT for a school district, showed me how a single breach on their end could expose every login I had. He said, 'the lock is only as good as the company holding the key,' and that stuck with me. I switched to a hardware key plus a paper backup in my safe, costs me $35 total. Now I sleep better knowing my accounts aren't tied to one server. Anyone else move off cloud password managers after a scare like this?

That quote about the lock only being as good as the company holding the key really hit me too. I had the same setup for years, one app for everything, and it felt so easy. But then I read about a breach at a big password manager and realized how much trust I was putting in one place. I ended up doing something similar, printed a master list and keep it in a fire safe, and honestly it feels way more solid than any cloud thing ever did.
