Had to choose between a regular shoe and a heart bar for a laminitis case yesterday

The horse was really sore, and I went with the heart bar for more support. It's been 24 hours and the owner just texted that he's standing way more comfortably. Anyone else have a go-to choice for these tough front foot cases?

Honestly, I'm just glad when I pick the right tool for any job. My last home project, I tried to use a regular hammer where I really needed a sledge. Let's just say the wall and my pride both have new holes. So seeing a heart bar work that fast? That's a win in my book.

Yeah but sometimes the right tool is the one you already have, you know? I mean @allen.william, I get the idea, but I've messed up more stuff by overthinking it and running to the store. That heart bar is cool and fast, but idk if it's always worth the extra trip and cash. Maybe it's just me but a lot of regular tools can get the job done if you work with them a bit longer.

My uncle's a finish carpenter and he always says the real cost is in your time, not the tool. If a heart bar saves you an hour of messing with a pry bar and a block of wood, that's an hour you get back. Sometimes the tool you have works, but the right one gives you your weekend back.
