Hot take: My entire collection of hand-dyed silk got ruined by a faulty steamer in my Brooklyn studio last week.
The temp gauge was off by like 40 degrees and it basically cooked the fabric. Anyone know a reliable brand for a small-batch steamer under $300?

Forty degrees off is a catastrophic margin of error for something as delicate as hand-dyed silk. I can't imagine opening that steamer and seeing what was left. For small batches, I've had good results with the handheld steamers from Jiffy, their Esteam model is pretty consistent.

That's a huge temperature swing. Makes you wonder about the quality control on the bigger industrial units. Are we talking about a faulty thermostat reading, or is the steam itself actually that much hotter at the nozzle? I've seen cheap ones where the steam output is super uneven, basically blasting in pulses.
