Used to hate working with satin until I learned the bias tape shortcut

My niece's prom dress was a nightmare last spring until a tailor in Portland showed me to use a bias cut strip as the hem facing instead of folding it under. Has anyone else had luck using bias tape to handle slippery fabrics?

Wow did you try using a walking foot with that? I had a whole different problem last year trying to sew a nylon windbreaker for camping, thing kept sliding all over and bunching up. Switched to a microtex needle and some wonder clips and it made all the difference. Bias tape is a lifesaver though, I use it on anything that moves too much now.

Walking foot honestly changed my whole sewing game with stretchy fabrics. I was too stubborn to try one for years and just fought with everything. Microtex needles are great for slippery stuff too. Bias tape is my cheat code for anything that wants to shift around. Wonder clips are way better than pins for stuff that's thick or delicate. Fabric just behaves so much better with the right foot and needle combo.
