Vent: A simple post hole in rocky ground near Boulder took me three full days to dig by hand.

I had to chip away at a single boulder the size of a car tire with a digging bar and a spud wrench, which felt like a trip back in time compared to the auger jobs I usually get now.

I read a geology blog once that called that area "the rock garden" for a reason. They said the glacial till leaves a mix of everything from gravel to literal truck-sized stones just under the soil. Using a bar on a single stubborn rock for hours sounds about right. Makes you really earn that fence post.
