Pro tip: My dad told me to always pay off the smallest debt first, not the highest interest one

Paid off $800 on a store card in 4 months and it felt so good it actually made me stick to the budget, way more than saving 3% on the big credit card ever did - has anyone else found the snowball method works better for motivation than the math?

I mean, I get that paying off the smallest debt feels good, but you're leaving money on the table. That 3% difference on a big credit card balance adds up fast, especially if you're carrying a couple thousand bucks. The math wins every time for me, I'd rather save the cash than get a quick dopamine hit.

My dad's advice got me out of debt too, even though my math skills are so bad I still count on my fingers to make change. Not saying it's right for everyone, but sometimes winning feels better than saving.
