Cable mess behind my desk made my PC overheat during a raid last night
I was in the middle of a 45 minute dungeon run on my rig in my basement when my GPU temp hit 85 degrees and the fans went crazy. Looked behind the desk and realized my zip-tied cables were blocking the exhaust fan on my old Corsair 400R case. Spent 20 minutes rerouting everything with velcro straps and dropped the temp by 10 degrees. Anyone else had their airflow killed by a rat's nest of wires?

85 degrees is not even that hot for a GPU, those things are rated to run way hotter than that. Unless your room was already a sauna, I doubt zip ties behind a case were the main problem. Sounds like one of those things where you change a bunch of stuff at once and then pick the one you want to blame. Probably just needed to clean the dust out of the heatsink and call it a day.

True but 85 is still pretty warm for air cooling, dust can only do so much.
