A quick trick for keeping ranunculus stems from curling in the bucket
I see a lot of new florists just cut and drop them, but they'll bend at the neck if you don't give them a proper drink first. I wrap the bunch in newspaper for the first hour after a fresh cut, and it keeps them straight. Anyone else have a different method for these fussy guys?

Newspaper sounds like a good trick. I used to just watch them do the sad wilt and get mad about it. Ryan_sanchez knows the pain, we all have a vase of bent flower failures somewhere. These things are more high maintenance than my neighbor's show dog. I give them a deep water drink in the dark now, seems to do the job without the mess.

Learned that the hard way too.

My mom's had tulips in a vase for 20 years and just uses tap water. They stand up fine. Maybe it's the type of flower, ryan_sanchez, or just overthinking it. Seems like a lot of work for something that dies in a week anyway.
