I switched to chicken wire over floral foam for big events and never looked back

Last month I had a 200 stem arrangement for a wedding in Portland and ran out of foam halfway through. Used chicken wire as a backup and honestly the stems held better and stayed hydrated longer. The foam crumbles and dries out flowers faster, plus it's terrible for the environment. Anyone else made the switch and noticed a real difference in vase life?

chicken wire held better" - yeah I used it for a wedding last fall and stems lasted three extra days easy.

Wait, three extra days? That's wild. I've been using chicken wire and my flowers still start drooping after like 4 days max. What's your secret, are you soaking the wire in something first or just packing the stems tighter? Every time I try it the stems end up bruised and bent weird.
