Tried a new floral foam for a big wedding job versus my usual stuff
I had a 50 centerpiece order for a wedding in Portland last month. I used a new 'eco-friendly' foam for half and my standard Oasis for the rest. The new foam started to crumble after 4 hours, and the stems wouldn't stay put. The Oasis arrangements held perfectly until the end of the night. Has anyone found a truly reliable alternative, or should I just stick with what I know works?

Stick with the Oasis for big jobs like that.

Stick with the Oasis" is a perfect example of how people stick to what they know works. Honestly, I see it all the time with tools, brands, even the routes people drive. Once something proves itself on a big task, you just stop looking for other options.

Yeah I had a similar thing happen with my landscaping rig. I was using this old Kubota for everything and it handled the small jobs fine but when I got a big commercial contract I almost blew it up. So I went with the bigger model everyone swore by and it was night and day difference. It just chugged through the heavy stuff without any hesitation. Sometimes you just gotta accept that what works for the little things won't cut it for the big ones and stick with what's proven. No shame in sticking to the reliable choice when you've got a lot riding on it.
