I thought my old iPod was just a brick until I found a weird charger trick

It wouldn't turn on for years, but I plugged it into a specific USB port on my 2012 laptop instead of a wall adapter, and it actually booted up. Anyone know why some old gadgets only work with certain power sources?

My old Zune did the same thing with a car charger, weird old tech just has its quirks.

Had the same issue with my old iPod. Found a cheap charger at a gas station that actually worked. The key was finding one with the right voltage output. Those old devices were picky about power. Took a few tries but finally got it to charge on a road trip.
