Spent $30 on a pager alarm clock and now I'm stuck in the 90s
I found this vintage pager shaped alarm clock at a thrift store about two years ago and paid $30 for it. It's literally a fake pager that beeps like a real one but it's an alarm clock. I thought it would be a funny joke for my desk but now I actually wake up faster because the beeping reminds me of my old job at the pizza place where we had pagers. My partner hates it because it sounds like an actual emergency every morning. I had to change the battery once and nearly broke the whole thing trying to pop the back off. Has anyone else bought a weird old tech item that turned into your daily driver?

Nah, that's wild but I totally get it. I picked up an old radio alarm from a garage sale that still has the mechanical bell inside, and there's something about that loud, grating ring that just cuts through sleep better than any phone alarm ever could. I think the real question here is why your partner hasn't started hiding it yet. Have you considered putting it across the room so you have to physically get up to shut it off, or are you just going to let the fake emergency continue every morning?

That old mechanical bell alarm is a beast. My dad had one that would actually shake the nightstand, and I swear it woke up the whole neighborhood once when the power went out and came back on at 3am.
