Asked my neighbor for an egg and got a 20 minute lecture on free range chickens
I knocked on her door Sunday morning to borrow one egg for a recipe, and she spent 20 minutes explaining how her chickens are named after dead rock stars and eat special organic feed that costs $12 a bag. Has anyone else had their cheap meal plan derailed by a well-meaning neighbor with strong opinions?

Yeah I read something about how some backyard chicken people get super into it, like it's a whole personality thing. Sounds like she's more into bragging about her chickens than actually helping out. Next time just say you need it for a bait and switch recipe or something.

Man I'd just straight up say "I need a couple eggs for baking, yours would be perfect" and see how fast she changes the subject. These backyard chicken people love to lecture you on the superior quality of their eggs until you actually need some. If she gives you the runaround again, hit up a neighbor with a small flock or just grab a carton from the store and pour them into a different container. Nobody's gonna know the difference in a cake.
