Bought a fancy olive oil and it went bad in 2 months
Ngl I spent $18 on this nice cold-pressed stuff from a local shop thinking it would last forever. It turned rancid after 2 months sitting in my cabinet by the stove. Any tips on storing oil so it doesn't waste my money like that?

My friend Sarah learned this the hard way too, she kept her oil right next to the stove and it went bad in like a month. Just move it to a dark cabinet away from heat, that's what fixed it for her.

Exactly the same thing happened to me with a bottle I picked up from a farmers market. I kept mine right next to the stove for convenience and it turned bitter and kind of waxy tasting after maybe 10 weeks. I was so frustrated because it cost me $20 and I thought cold-pressed meant it was more stable or something. Turns out heat and light are the real enemies of good oil. Now I keep my olive oil in a dark pantry cupboard far from the oven and fridge and it lasts easily 6 months without going off. I also learned to buy smaller bottles so I use them up faster instead of hoarding a big one.
