Can we talk about trying to make your own yogurt to save a few bucks

I thought it'd be simple, but getting the culture right and the temperature steady took me like 6 failed attempts over two months before I finally got a decent batch. Anyone have a foolproof method that doesn't involve buying a special machine?

My oven light failed me too until I saw @oscarh16's cooler idea.

My grandma in Florida used a styrofoam cooler and a cheap aquarium heater. She'd wrap the jar in a towel, set the heater to 110 degrees, and leave it overnight. Honestly, it was way more reliable than my oven light method. The whole setup cost maybe fifteen bucks at a pet store. Tbh, the real trick is just finding a spot in your house that never gets drafty.
