My smart scale tried to weigh my cat last Tuesday
I bought one of those fancy smart scales that syncs to your phone about a month ago. Last Tuesday morning, I stepped off it after weighing myself, and my cat, Mochi, immediately jumped on. The app pinged my phone with a new 'user' profile, asking for a name. It had logged a 9.3-pound reading and was ready to start tracking 'weight trends' for this new family member. I spent twenty minutes trying to delete the feline profile from the app, which was harder than setting the thing up in the first place. Has anyone else had a gadget get hilariously confused by a pet?

Yeah, trying to delete that feline profile is a known pain. You can usually stop it by weighing yourself first, then stepping off and on again to overwrite the last reading.

Reminds me of how many gadgets now have these weird, hidden workarounds instead of just letting you delete stuff. My old car radio needed you to hold two buttons for ten seconds to reset it, and my smart thermostat makes you go through three menus just to turn off a schedule. Feels like they design these things to be "smart" but forget how people actually use them day to day. You end up with a scale that thinks your cat is a permanent resident.
