Showerthought: I bought a fitness tracker three years ago and still check it every morning
It was a Garmin Vivosmart 4, and I got it mainly for the sleep tracking. Now I'm so used to seeing my sleep score that my whole day feels off if I forget to put it on. Does anyone else feel like a gadget created a habit you didn't even want?

My buddy Mark got a Fitbit for his birthday last year... just to see his step count. Now he gets genuinely upset if he leaves the house without it, like he left his wallet behind. He says it feels like the data isn't real if the device isn't on his wrist, which is kind of wild when you think about it. The thing he bought to track his life ended up making a new rule for his life. He laughs about it, but you can tell it bugs him a little.

That "new rule for his life" thing is real. I started leaving mine on the charger one weekend day. Breaks the mental link that every step has to be tracked. He should try a planned break, just to feel normal again.
