A cashier at the grocery store in Springfield told me she always puts her eggs in the cart last.
She said it's because she dropped a carton once when it was on the bottom and had to clean up a dozen broken eggs, so now she puts them on top of everything else, and I've been doing it that way ever since.

Oh, I always put mine on the bottom! I mean, they're in a carton, so they're pretty safe down there.

@black.laura I gotta say, I used to think like you too. Those cartons feel pretty sturdy, right? But then I watched a stack of cans cave one in at the bottom of my cart and it was a mess. Now I'm with that cashier, eggs are always the last thing in. It's such a small thing but it saves you from that sinking feeling when you hear cracking. I feel for you though, it's one of those grocery store lessons you learn the hard way.
