Rant: I used to think talking on the phone was a waste of time compared to texting

For the longest time, I was all about the text. Quick, easy, no fuss. I'd have these long, drawn out chats over days about planning a simple get together. Then, about two months ago, I had to sort out a delivery issue with a supplier. I sent maybe six texts back and forth over an hour and got nowhere. Finally, I just called. We fixed the whole thing in under three minutes. The tone of voice, the quick back and forth, it just cut through all the confusion. Now, if something has more than two points to cover, I just dial. It feels more like a real talk, you know? Does anyone else find themselves going back to the phone for stuff that matters?

Totally! I read an article that said our brains actually process tone of voice way faster than written words. Makes sense, right?

That bit about tone being processed faster is so true. My friend sent a text that just said "Fine" after a small argument. She spent an hour stressing, thinking he was being cold and sarcastic. He called later, totally normal voice, and had just been busy. The text had zero tone, so her brain filled in the worst one.
