My landlord in Atlanta won't fix a broken AC unit from June. Can I withhold rent?

Seriously? It's October now. How bad is it really? Atlanta heat is no joke but summer is basically over. Withholding rent is a huge legal risk and rarely works out. You'd be better off calling code enforcement or finding the tenant rights group in your county.

Wait, Atlanta heat in October is still no joke at all. It can easily stay in the 80s well into the month. The real problem is the legal advice though. Withholding rent can work if you do it exactly right, like putting the money in an escrow account. You have to follow the steps or you'll get evicted.
