Almost ruined a piece because I skipped the pre-heat step
I was in a rush and didn't let my glass warm up properly before working it. The stress cracks showed up later, so now I always take the time to pre-heat, no matter what.

Thought skipping pre-heat was a dumb waste of time. Rushed a bowl once and it cracked overnight. Never cut that corner again.

Borosilicate glass can handle thermal shock better, but I ruined a vase once by not pre-heating enough. The stress showed up after cooling in the kiln. Do you find that thicker pieces are more likely to crack, or is it more about the shape? I'm curious if the cooling schedule played a role too.

Honestly that's the worst, when you think you saved time but just made more work. Was it a certain type of glass or a bigger project that made it crack faster? Seems like the rule is universal no matter what you're making.
