Shoutout to the old-timer at the Tacoma supply shop who told me to try a 3/4 inch punty for my small goblet forms instead of the 1/2 inch I always used.
I switched for a batch of six pieces last week and the extra stability cut my cracking rate at the transfer point from about one in three to almost zero, so has anyone else found a simple tool change that fixed a stubborn problem?

Bet on yourself and adjust your flame angle too, that's what really locked it in for me.

Read a forum post once where someone fixed a similar cracking issue just by switching to a heavier base plate. The right tool for the job really does make all the difference. Glad the punty swap worked out for you.

Yeah, I remember reading that too. It's surprising how much a small gear change can stop those stress cracks from forming. Makes you wonder what else we're all doing the hard way.
