Can we talk about the worst creative block I ever had...

Last month, I had a full week where I just stared at a blank screen for a client's branding project. I must have opened Pinterest and Behance a hundred times, but nothing clicked. On Thursday, I gave up and went for a walk in the park near my apartment, and I saw this really faded, peeling poster on a bulletin board. The way the colors and type had worn away gave me this whole idea for a distressed, layered texture look. Has anyone else had a random, non-design thing break a block for them?

That's the thing I've noticed more and more - the best ideas never come from sitting at your desk forcing it. They come from life bleeding through the cracks. Like how rust on a dumpster can give you a color palette, or how the way light hits smudged glass at a bus stop can spark a composition. Our brains get stuck in this loop of looking at the same design sites for answers, but the real answers are just out there in the mess of everyday stuff. I think we've trained ourselves to look at screens for inspiration when the world is literally giving it to us for free.

That walk in the park idea saved me too.
