I almost hid a spill on my lounge chair from visitors
Last week, I had some old friends over to my guest lounge. I noticed a coffee spill on the chair from earlier that day. Part of me wanted to just flip the cushion and say nothing, but that felt sneaky. I decided to point it out, and they actually laughed it off and thanked me for being HONEST. It was a small win for keeping things REAL between us.

I get why you like "keeping things real," but I see it another way. Hiding a spill can be kind, not shady. @stelladavis talked about a drawing everyone could see. With a hidden spill, why bring it up? It just makes people feel they have to say something. I skip the talk and let us enjoy the time together.

My friend had this thing happen where her kid drew on the wall right before guests came over. She almost just shoved a bookcase in front of it, you know? But she ended up just saying, "Hey, ignore the new artwork, we had a creative morning." Everyone thought it was funny and it totally broke the ice. It's wild how those tiny moments of keeping it real can make everyone feel more relaxed. She said it was way better than stressing someone would find the hidden scribble. Makes you wonder why we ever bother with the little cover-ups.
