Clearing out the pantry made me think about my old bean jar system
I was digging through my kitchen cabinet yesterday and found my old mason jar filled with dried beans. It reminded me of when I first started cooking for myself and money was really tight. I used to buy beans in bulk because they were cheap and would last forever. Every week, I'd soak a cup overnight and turn them into different things, like chili or salads. Over time, I got creative, adding whatever veggies were on sale or leftover from other meals. It became a kind of game to see how many dishes I could make from that one jar. Now, even though I have a bit more cash, I still keep that jar around. It's a simple reminder that good food doesn't have to cost a lot.
