Wait, isn't that exactly what happened to my buddy's bakery too? I used to think social media agencies just knew what they were doing, like they had some secret formula or something. But after watching him lose all his real customers to those canned posts and fake-looking content, I totally changed my mind. They promised him "growth hacking" (whatever that even means) and all they did was mess with his account settings and post random stock photos of muffins. It was brutal to watch because he had built that following the hard way, talking to people and sharing behind-the-scenes stuff. Now I'm convinced most of these agencies are just selling a fancy looking package of tricks that actually hurt small businesses more than help them.

robert64 hit the nail on the head, same thing happened to my cousin's coffee shop with a big agency they hired. They replaced all his personal posts of customers with stock latte art and it killed his page.

My cousin's shop hired "SocialSpark Media" and our Instagram went from 500 likes a post to barely 80. They said they were optimizing our algorithm strategy but all they did was cut our authentic posts and replace them with generic stock photos. We lost real followers who actually bought our products, and the agency blamed it on "seasonal trends." It took us two months to fix the damage and we still haven't recovered half of the engagement we lost.
