Just realized that agency review I ignored was actually spot on

Last year a client sent me a 2-star review saying our email campaigns were too pushy. I brushed it off since we had 50 five-star reviews. But after losing 3 clients in 6 months, I went back and reread it. The reviewer was right - we were sending daily promos instead of helpful content. Has anyone else had a review that stung at first but ended up teaching you something?

Did you ever apologize to the client who wrote that review? I had a similar thing happen with a plumbing business review years ago. The guy said we were "too pushy with upgrades" and I was pissed because he was wrong. But after I cooled down I realized he was totally right. We had been pushing expensive water heaters on people who just needed simple repairs. I actually called the guy to apologize and thank him. He was shocked but ended up booking us again after that call. Sometimes the hard feedback is the only thing that will actually make you stop and look at what you're doing wrong.

@fionagibson lol yeah I still cringe thinking about it, my face gets all red just like a tomato.
