Small win on my first solo foundation pour...

Was out in Phoenix last week doing my first big foundation pour alone, and about halfway through I realized I'd been mixing my concrete way too wet for like a year now. The slump cone test was reading 6 inches when it should have been 4, and a foreman named Pete just looked at me and said 'son, that's soup not concrete'. Took me an extra 45 minutes to adjust the mix on the fly but the slab came out solid... anyone else been humbled by a simple slump test?

Ever tried the 'paint bucket trick' where you just get a cheap 5 gallon bucket with marks on the side for water? That helped me dial in consistency without relying purely on feel (which I'm clearly bad at). Concrete doesn't lie though, that slump cone is the real boss.

Paint bucket trick works until you get a slump cone.
