Used to swear by big agencies for SEO work. Changed my mind after a local firm showed me real results.
I used to think you had to go with these huge SEO agencies with flashy offices and a ton of employees. Spent about $3,000 a month with one for six months and got nothing but generic reports and no movement in rankings. Then a buddy of mine from a local meetup convinced me to try this tiny agency he used, like three people total. They started with just fixing basic stuff like page titles and fixing broken links, and within 8 weeks my traffic went up 40%. The difference was they actually answered emails within an hour and explained what they were doing step by step. Has anyone else found that smaller shops care more about the work than the fancy pitch?

And honestly, the responsiveness part is huge. I had the same experience where the big agency would take days to get back to me and I'd get some copy-paste answer that didn't even address what I asked. The small team I work with now, the owner himself will text me at 9pm on a Sunday if there's a quick fix he wants to run by me first lol. It's like they actually care about your account because losing you would actually hurt their bottom line, versus a big agency where you're just another number on a spreadsheet. Plus they don't try to upsell you on a bunch of junk services you don't need every quarter. The transparency of just showing you exactly what they're doing and why just builds so much more trust over time.

Did the big agency ever actually fix the problems you told them about?
