I just wasted $15 on a bag of frozen fries that turned to mush

I bought a big bag of store brand crinkle cuts thinking they'd be fine in the air fryer. Cooked them at 400 degrees for 15 minutes like the bag said, but they came out soggy and pale. I should have just spent the extra dollar on the name brand ones I know work. Has anyone else had a bad batch from a certain store's frozen section?

Honestly I've had the opposite happen. Last week I grabbed the cheap crinkle cuts from Aldi and they crisped up perfect in my air fryer at 380 for 12 minutes. Sometimes it's not the brand, it's the machine or how you load it. My sister's fancy air fryer burns everything if you follow the bag time. Maybe your fryer runs cool or you overcrowded the basket.

You know what, Wendy might be onto something with the air fryer itself. Could it be that some machines just have hot spots or weak fans that don't circulate the air right? I've had to drop the temp on mine for almost every frozen food because it runs so hot. Did you shake the basket a couple times while they were cooking? That always seems to help mine get even.
