PSA: Preheat your air fryer, I wasted 6 months of crispy chicken before my sister pointed it out
Honestly I feel kind of dumb about this one. For like 6 months I was just tossing frozen chicken wings straight into the basket and hitting start, and they always came out kinda pale and soggy on one side no matter how long I cooked them. Last weekend my sister was over at my place in Fresno and watched me do it, and she just goes "you're not preheating it?" and I had no idea that was even a thing. She told me to run it empty at 400 for like 3 minutes first, and I tried it that night with the same wings and the skin actually got crunchy, like real crunchy. The difference was so obvious I was mad at myself. Now I do it every single time, even for like 2 minutes when I'm in a rush, and my fries come out way better too. Has anyone else figured this out super late, or am I the only one who skipped that part of the manual?
Did you change how you do it after hearing that? I used to just throw stuff in a cold oven and hope for the best. Then I actually tried letting it heat up first and wow, what a difference in how things bake.
