I tried that new dubbing service everyone's hyping on Crunchyroll
Signed up for the premium tier that promises same-day English releases for like $15 extra a month, and they added a bunch of curse words that weren't in the original Japanese script for an action series I was following. Completely changed the vibe of the characters and now I'm paranoid about every new episode dropping. Has anyone else noticed this with their releases or am I just being picky?

Have you checked if there's a "faithful subtitles" option in the settings? I ran into this same problem with a different show where they added swears that totally didn't fit the characters. The trick for me was switching from the "localized" audio track to the "literal" one in the dropdown menu, it made a huge difference. Sometimes those premium dubs hire writers who think adding curse words makes it more "adult" but it just messes with the original feel.

Yo seriously! I saw an article about this exact thing last week. Some streaming services are purposely adding curse words to "premium" dubs because they think it makes the show feel more edgy or mature. But it's just lazy writing if you ask me. The original creators already picked specific words for a reason. Switching tracks saved my sanity on a few shows too. It's like they don't trust the audience to enjoy the show without the extra salt.
