Just realized I was watching anime on 2x speed for the last 6 months
I started doing it to catch up on seasonal shows faster, figured I was just being efficient. But last week my daughter walked by the TV while I was watching something and said 'Dad, why are they talking like chipmunks?' That's when it hit me that I wasn't really watching or enjoying anything. I had been through 40+ episodes of a show and could barely remember what happened. Now I forced myself to go back and rewatch a few series at normal speed and the details I missed are crazy. Anyone else fall into this speed-watching trap and regret it?

40 episodes at 2x speed means you basically watched a highlight reel of people talking fast. You missed all the subtle animation, the pacing that the director built in, the moments where silence actually matters. I watch everything at 1x and I still catch things on rewatches that I missed the first time. You just proved you weren't actually watching, you were consuming. Episode 17 of Attack on Titan at 2x speed would be a blur of screaming and motion lines.
