Just realized I've been saying 'shonen' wrong for like 5 years

I was talking about Jujutsu Kaisen with a guy at my local comic shop in Portland and he corrected me. I always pronounced it 'show-nen' but it's actually 'sho-nen' with a short o. Been watching anime since 2019 and nobody ever said anything. Anyone else find out they were butchering a basic anime term way too late?

Figured out I was saying "isekai" wrong for like two years straight. I kept saying "eye-sekai" like it rhymed with "eye-socket" and nobody stopped me until I said it at a con and like three people just stared at me. The right way is "ee-sekai" with a long e sound. Made me wonder how many other basic terms I've been messing up in my head while thinking I sounded cool talking about anime.

Dude I feel you. I said "Ghibli" with a hard G for years before someone corrected me at a convention.
