Question about a convo I had with a stranger at the grocery store last month
I was wearing a shirt with a subtle logo from a pretty niche 90s anime, and the cashier, a guy probably in his 50s, just lit up and said 'You know, that show's ending theme is still the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard,' which totally made my week because I'd never met anyone else who even remembered it.

That's such a cool little moment. Read an article once about how these tiny shared interests create real, if brief, connections between people. It argued that the more specific the thing, the better the feeling when someone else gets it. Your story is a perfect example of that. Makes the whole world feel a bit smaller and friendlier. What was the anime, if you don't mind saying?

makes the whole world feel smaller" is so true, I had that happen over a weird old video game once.

Yeah, that's the best. I had a barista spot my old Tamagotchi keychain last year and she did the exact same little feeding motion with her finger. We both cracked up. It's just a dumb toy, but for a second you're not two strangers in a line, you're two people who remember the same specific, pointless thing. Makes the whole day better.
