Spent $60 on a fancy anime subscription box and got... a single keychain
I saw an ad for a 'mystery box' from a popular anime merch site, promising a haul of figures and shirts from shows like Jujutsu Kaisen and Spy x Family for about sixty bucks. The box arrived yesterday and it was huge, so I got really excited. I opened it up and it was just a mountain of packing paper with one, lonely Demon Slayer keychain at the bottom. It wasn't even a main character, it was like, the guy who sells swords. Has anyone else been burned by one of these 'curated' boxes? I feel like I paid for air.

Ouch, that's brutal... a giant box for one keychain feels like a joke. So @troy_adams, when the "thrill" is just unpacking a bunch of paper, what exactly are we paying for? The "curated selection" was a single, minor character item... that's not a gamble, that's a rip-off.

Mystery boxes are a gamble by design, you paid for the thrill of not knowing. The site never promised a specific number of items, just a curated selection. Getting upset about the result misses the whole point of buying a surprise.
