Rant: The sink drain under my kitchen cabinet took 4 tries to fix
I had a slow drain under my sink in Denver last weekend and thought it would be a quick 30 minute fix with a new trap. After taking it apart three times and finding a cracked pipe hidden behind the wall, it ended up taking 5 hours total. Has anyone else run into a simple plumbing job that turned into a whole day project?

4 tries to fix" is basically the story of my WHOLE life too, @fionaa35. What was the first thing that went wrong that cost you the most time? For me it was a hairline crack in the drain pipe behind the wall that I couldn't see until I'd already put everything back together twice. Did you have one specific moment where you realized it was going to be a long day, or was it more like a slow death of a thousand little mistakes?

That cracked pipe behind the wall is always what gets you, I just read a homeowner thread saying you can't trust anything you can't see under a sink. The slow death of a thousand trips to the hardware store is the real killer. My own sink had me swapping the trap three times before I realized the pipe was slightly out of round from a previous repair.
