I was reading an old service manual for a 1978 Ford F-150 and found out the recommended oil change interval was 7,500 miles

Found the manual in a box of stuff from a retired mechanic in Phoenix. It said to change the oil every 7,500 miles or 6 months, which is way longer than I thought they'd say back then. Makes you wonder how much of the '3,000 mile rule' was always just marketing. What's the longest interval you've ever seen in an old factory spec?

Check the fine print for 'severe service' reductions.

My grandpa's old Chevy manual said 10,000 miles, which still blows my mind.

My '82 Civic manual said 5,000... guess my car was the needy one.
