Finally got my buttercream to hold a sharp edge after 5 batches
I was doing a wedding cake for a friend and had to pick between using all butter or a butter-shortening mix for the frosting. I went with the half and half blend because the venue was outdoors and pretty warm. It set up perfectly and didn't slump at all during the 3 hour event. What's your go-to frosting for hot days?

Nice save with the half and half mix, that's smart for outdoors. What ratio of butter to shortening did you end up using exactly? I've heard some people go 60/40 but I'm never sure if it changes the flavor too much. Getting a sharp edge that lasts in heat is the real test lol.

My cousin's outdoor wedding cake was a total meltdown, so you made the right call. I've used that same blend for years now.
